Progress – September 2025
Spent the weekend trying to free up some space on the canvas. I have reduced the size of the survivor inventory items. This is primarily so that I have space for an improve torch controller widget and eventually a “car” controller. I also placed the mission and weapon crate indicator as button widgets next to each other horizontally. If one has not been collected – it is disabled. I will replace these with “greyed out ” images later. This has given me enough room to allow the inventories of other survivors to displayed as thumbnails.
I have solved most of the spawn sequence issues caused by the nested callbacks. These are required for the spawn and zombie movements to be animated. I also found an error that if zombies on one tile were moved to another tile (with zombies), and those zombies (on the other tile) were waiting to be activated – the ALL the zombies then moved together as a larger group. That’s is solved -it may have explained why my survivors were unexpectedly often overrun by a horde sometimes.
Next thing is to make some nice icons for the “melee”, “shoot”, “search”, “use” and “discard” buttons.
I also want a “game over / won” splash screen with gameplay statistics. The gameplay stats are show on the GUI lefthand side, but I never really look at them during the game. Either I can remove the current game stats widget to speed up refresh time or use the space for something else.
